(Skilled Regional) visa

The Subclass 191 (Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional)) visa is a new visa that will be available for eligible subclass 491 and 494 visa holders who have lived and worked in a designated regional area for at least three years, and who have earned a minimum income for that period. This visa will allow the holder and any family members included in the application to live and work permanently in Australia.

 

It will be a pathway to permanent residency for eligible subclass 491 and 494 visa holders, who will need to meet the eligibility criteria, including the work and income requirements, to be granted the visa.

The Subclass 191 visa is a new pathway to permanent residency in Australia for holders of certain skilled regional visas. It is designed to encourage migration to regional areas of Australia and to provide a pathway to permanent residency for those who have contributed to the economy and society of these areas.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the Subclass 191 visa, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be a current holder of either a Subclass 491 or Subclass 494 visa.

  2. Have lived and worked in a designated regional area of Australia for at least three years.

  3. Have earned a minimum income for that period, which is currently set at $53,900 per annum.

  4. Meet health and character requirements.

  5. Meet all other requirements for permanent residency in Australia.

 

It is important to note that the three-year period of living and working in a designated regional area can be accrued through holding multiple eligible visas, as long as there is no break in residency.
