The Graduate visa (subclass 485) is a temporary visa that allows international students who have recently graduated from an Australian educational institution to remain in Australia to gain work experience or improve their skills.

Graduate Work Stream

This stream is for international students who have completed a qualification in an occupation that is in high demand in Australia. To be eligible for this stream, you must have completed a qualification that is on the relevant skilled occupation list and have an Australian qualification.

Post-Study Work stream

This stream is for international students who have completed a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree in Australia. The duration of the visa depends on the level of study completed. For example, if you have completed a bachelor's degree, you can stay in Australia for two years under this stream. If you have completed a master's or doctoral degree, you can stay for up to four years.

Process

One of the main requirement is Australia Federal Police check conducted within the last 12 months before the date of application.

Visa conditions:

Once you have been granted the Graduate visa, you can live and work in Australia for the duration of your visa. You can work in any occupation and for any employer. However, you must try to work in the field that is related to your qualification to gain skill assessment, and points for skilled experience in the General Skilled Migration program.
