Temporary Graduate Work Visa

The Graduate visa (subclass 485) is a temporary visa that allows international students who have recently graduated from an Australian educational institution to remain in Australia to gain work experience or improve their skills.

There are two streams of the visa: the Graduate Work stream and the Post-Study Work stream. To be eligible for the visa, you must meet certain requirements, apply for the visa, and provide supporting documentation. Once you have been granted the visa, you can live and work in Australia for the duration of your visa.

To be eligible for the Graduate visa, you must have recently completed a course of study at an Australian educational institution. You must also meet certain health and character requirements, have health insurance, and meet the English language requirements.

Process

The application process for the Graduate visa involves submitting an online application, paying a non-refundable application fee, and providing supporting documentation, such as your academic transcripts, proof of health insurance, and evidence of meeting the English language requirement. One of the main requirement is Australia Federal Police check conducted within the last 12 months before the date of application.

Visa conditions:

Once you have been granted the Graduate visa, you can live and work in Australia for the duration of your visa. You can work in any occupation and for any employer. However, you must try to work in the field that is related to your qualification to gain skill assessment, and points for skilled experience in the General Skilled Migration program.
