Process

The General Skilled Visa are a points-based visa for skilled workers. There are various streams such as independent, nominated and regional provisional. This visa allows the visa holder to live and work permanently in Australia, or in case of regional provisional lead to permanent visa if the conditions are met.

To be eligible for GSM visa, you must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect and meet the minimum requirements, including:

Occupation: Your occupation must be on the relevant skilled occupation list and meet the relevant skills assessment criteria.

Skills assessment: You must have your skills assessed by the relevant assessing authority for your occupation.

English language proficiency: You must meet the minimum English language requirements, which vary depending on your occupation and the visa subclass.

Points test: You must score at least 65 points on the points test, which takes into account factors such as age, English language proficiency, work experience, education, and other factors.
If you meet the eligibility criteria and receive a nomination from a state or territory government agency, you will be invited to apply for the GSM visa. The application process involves submitting a formal visa application, providing supporting documentation, and undergoing health and character checks.
